Depressed

God of All Comfort,

My soul seems to feel such a sense of despair,  sorrow and heaviness.  My strength and will seem completely gone.  I can hardly move from the feeling of discouragement and have pulled away from the people I love and need.

Even if other people don’t understand what I am going through right now—and though I don’t really understand it myself—thank You that You know exactly what I am going through.  Your sorrow was so great that even the sweat of Your brow was droplets of blood.  You know the dark night of the soul.  You know what it is to experience anguish.

Thank you that You aren’t judging me, but loving me.  Knowing that You have walked through the valley of the shadow of death and will walk it with me and beside me, is very comforting.  It gives me the hope that I need to keep from feeling faint.

I ask You for a special touch in my heart right now.  I pray for an awakening of hope and joy in my spirit.  Please make me more than an overcomer in this darkness I feel and deliver me from any spirit of depression.

In Jesus’ merciful name,
Amen.

Psalm 18:6  “In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried to my God.  He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His (very) ears.”
